In a time of transition, recruiting has taken a back seat in recruiting, according to the head of recruitment for the UK Basketball Association.
James Tuckett, who has been recruiting in the country for the past five years, says recruiting is now a bigger part of the sport than ever before.
“It’s the biggest thing in the world right now, recruiting,” he said.
“The whole world has got a lot of work to do to compete with us and we’re really getting better.”
When you have the opportunity to work with a high level coach like (UK coach) David Dimbleby, you’re going to be very successful.
“He added that recruitment had improved over the past year.”
There’s a lot more coaches now than there were a year ago.
There’s a whole new set of people that have been introduced to the game of basketball.
“I think the coaches are starting to get more confident and that’s really encouraging.”
We are really, really confident and have been doing a lot better this year.
“What is recruitment?
James Tockett says the UK basketball recruiting is ‘a lot better’ than it was a year or two ago.
What has changed?
Tuckett says recruitment has become a bigger and bigger part a sport.”
Every year there are a few new coaches that come in, and they’re always new,” he told the ABC.”
You’re going through the process of trying to figure out where you fit into that.
“Some of them may be in the top 10 in the rankings, but it’s still a learning process for them, for the coaches, for us.”
What has been done to help recruit more?
James says there have been many improvements over the years, but they were made through a mixture of hard work and a strong relationship with the coaches.
“A lot of the guys have come through the whole process of being introduced to us,” he added.
“As a group, we’re still learning a lot.”
Most of the players we’re recruiting have gone on to be top level players in the UK, and the coaches have been very good in helping us to get there.
“What’s been really good about this year is that we’ve been able to see more players, and I think that’s good.”

Tucketer said the recruitment process was “a lot more difficult” now, and he felt the changes had been “a good year for us”.
“It took a little bit longer than I’d like it to, but I think it’s been good for us,” the coach said.
