Oklahoma football’s 2016 recruiting class ranked No. 1 in the country by 247Sports, and that number will rise even further with the addition of three-star linebacker Deandre Burnett, according to a source with direct knowledge of the class.
Burnett, who is ranked No of the nation’s top 10 inside linebackers by 247Composite, committed to Oklahoma on Thursday.
Oklahoma is in the midst of a search for its next coach.
Former defensive coordinator Tom Osborne is now the defensive coordinator at Auburn.
Osborne will join the Sooners in March.
The Sooners have been trying to recruit for a long time, and their first offer came last month, according a source.
The recruiting services have had several other offers come in over the past few months.
The most recent came from the SEC and Georgia, according the source.
Oklahomans have been in the hunt for a new coach since at least May.
The Sooners hired Nick Saban in January of 2018 and have gone on to win six games in the last seven seasons.

The nation’s No. 3 team in 2017, Oklahoma has ranked in that same top 10 for three straight seasons.
