Coast Guard recruiters in Florida are being told to avoid President Donald Trump’s rhetoric and to remain silent.
CNN affiliate WGCL reported Tuesday that the Coast Guard Recruiter for Florida is not using Trump’s controversial campaign rhetoric.
The Coast Guard recruitment firm is advising recruits to “stay away from politics and stay focused on the mission of the Coast Guards.”
It is also instructing recruiters to “not use or promote political views, including those that do not align with the views of the United States Government.”
Coast Guard Secretary Mike Rogers announced last week that the organization would suspend recruitment for all candidates running for federal office, except for Republicans, Democrats and independent voters.
Trump has said the Coast Group, which has been in business since the 1970s, is “a political pawn.”
