Alabama coach Nick Saban announced that the team will recruit under the banner of “The Tide Football Program.”
Saban said the new program will include three “top tier” players: quarterback Jalen Hurts, running back Derrick Henry and wide receiver Jalen Ramsey.
Saban said Hurts and Henry will compete for the No. 1 spot in the 2018 class.
“It’s a huge deal for me,” Hurts said in a video posted on Twitter.
“I’ve been around the program since I was a kid and I can’t thank Nick Saban enough for this opportunity.
He’s one of the great coaches in the history of the game.
I’m proud of him.”
Saban will be the first Alabama coach to announce a major recruiting class since Nick Saban in 2008.
Saban also revealed that defensive tackle Jarrad Davis is expected to be the team’s starting left tackle for the 2018 season.
Hurts will compete with running back DeAndre Davis and wide receivers DeAndre Reaves and Jordan Taylor for the starting job in 2018.
The Tide’s 2018 class had a total of six scholarship players listed on its roster.
The 2018 class ranked No. 5 in the country in recruiting and No. 2 in the nation in overall class.
