Arkansas coach David Beaty says he will leave the Arkansas football program in 2018

David Beat, the former Arkansas head football coach who has not played a down since stepping down in 2016, has decided to leave the Razorbacks in 2018.

Beaty, who is the latest member of the coaching staff to leave Arkansas in recent years, said on Wednesday that he will “begin my journey to other opportunities,” including joining the National Guard.

Arkansas had been in negotiations with former LSU defensive coordinator Brent Pease to replace Beaty for the 2018 season, but the talks fell apart.

Beaty also coached at LSU under Les Miles from 2013-16.

He was fired by Les Miles in 2016.

Arkansans first-year head coach Bret Bielema was also fired after six seasons in 2016 after his team finished 10-6.
