NEW YORK — New hires are expected to arrive for the New York City Police Department’s new headquarters, a source with knowledge of the hiring process said Monday.
The hires are being brought on from other agencies in the city, including the New Jersey State Police, the police department in Staten Island, the Nassau County Police Department and the Nassco County Sheriff’s Office, the source said.
New hires will join a department that already has around 2,000 officers.
The hires will begin moving into the new headquarters this week and will be assigned to the ranks of patrol officers, the department said in a statement.
At this time, the NYPD does not have a timeline for when these hires will be deployed to the headquarters.
The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
